I have been a licensed attorney in the state of Nevada since 1984. I graduated from University of Nevada Reno in 1980 and University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1984. I served as a Deputy District Attorney for Washoe County from 1984 until 1986. I was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in 2009.
I have been in private practice since September of 1986 practicing, primarily, in criminal defense. I have defended approximately 9,000 criminal cases of which approximately 7,000 were DUI. I have represented client's at an estimated 4,200 driver's license revocation hearings at the Department of Motor Vehicles; in excess of 3,500 misdemeanor bench trials; and over 70 felony jury trials.
I have presided as a Judge Pro Tem at Reno Municipal Court. I have been a regular guest lecturer teaching DUI law, report writing and cross-examination of witnesses at the High Sierra Regional Law Enforcement Academy and the Peace Officers' Standardized Training Academy for 15 years. I have lectured from the State Bar of Nevada and conducted numerous DUI seminars for both the State Bar of Nevada and the Washoe County Bar Association. I have lectured at the National Judicial College and throughout the State of Nevada regarding DUI defense and cross examination.
I served my country, during the Vietnam War, in the Intelligence Branch of the United States Army for 6 years. I also served on the Nevada State Welfare Board for ten years. I served as the Nevada Representative on the McGeorge School of Law Alumni Board.
My wife Kathy and I have been married for 55 years. I have 4 grown, successful children, 3 wonderful grandchildren and 3 growing great-grand children.
